Weekend Update

It's that time again. The little league season has arrived. Sitting in the bleachers, cheering for every play, eating nachos and candy from the snack bar, meeting parents, chasing kids around the park...good times.

This weekend also included lunch with the girls and antiquing in San Clemente (I'll post my finds later!), treasure hunting through this annual rummage sale, going to a lovely dinner with friends at Gingham, cheering John on in the San Diego 1/2 marathon, and cleaning out our attic in anticipation of our move.

Ready for the week to start just so I can sit down...

Weekend Re-Cap

Not exactly a restful weekend, but definitely fun! We started out by cheering John on at his first triathalon. We were so proud. Under three hours for his first time. He looked great right afterwards, and then slept all afternoon. If a mile swim, 30 mile bike ride and 6 mile run isn't a reason for a nap I don't know what is...

Yesterday we were treated to a Padres game by our pediatrician's office. They picked Ben cause he's so handsome. :) We pigged out on hot dogs, cotton candy and snow cones. Padres gave it up to the Diamondbacks, but we still used our foam finger like we were totally winning.

Happy International "Talk Like a Pirate" Day! Yes, it does exist. (thanks Jessica)

Weekend Re-Cap

Sullivan and Bear rockin' it western style

We're wrapping up week three here at Oakbridge, and we did the weekend up right. My kids are starting to think it's normal to have cotton candy, snow cones and a carnival on a weekly basis.

We took a girl's trip up to Julian on Saturday for shopping and lunch at the Julian Grille. Highly recommend it if you're traveling up that way anytime soon. The portobello veggie grilled sandwich and potato leek soup were incredible.

Lincoln adopted a newborn Rosy Boa that was found here at camp as his new pet. Yes, that's a snake. A real, live boa constrictor. But a very friendly breed, and is starting to grow on me. That's a good thing since it's about six inches now, but will eventually be 4 feet long :) Boys are awesome.

Looking forward to our final week of camp!

Weekend Re-Cap

There was some dividing and conquering in our house this weekend. I took Bear and Ben to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Balboa Park while John and Lincoln worked the Young Life table at San Diego State (Go Aztecs! Did you see that double overtime win on Saturday?)

We all met up at Lincoln's Little League game that afternoon. Sluggers vs. Green Hornets. It was a real nail biter but we came out ahead. Linc's a real powerhouse hitter this year. (he's also about six inches taller than the rest of the kids on his team, even the 3rd graders!)

Having a snack with the Koi
 Planting wild sunflowers
Creepy giant Bear (?) getting a little close
People on Segways fascinate me. They're laughing at themselves.
I'm picturing an posh retirement supported by my son's baseball career.
Pitching to 8 year olds. LOTS of parent input from the bleachers, of course.

Weekend Re-Cap

We tagged along with John this weekend for a wedding in Phoenix. Loved visiting with friends (love you Eatons), wine and cheese night (love you Morrisons), slow mornings with the boys, lunch with baby Finley and Sean, and watching Ryan and Kailyn get married. While I'm happy attached to San Diego, part of my heart is still in the Valley of the Sun...

Weekend Re-Cap

Lots of action around here this weekend! Saturday's project (bunkbeds) turned into Monday morning stitches. Bear slipped off the bottom rung of the ladder and ended up with four stitches in his chin. He was such a good boy at the hospital that they gave him a multi-pack of HotWheels. Hip hip for Rady Children's!

Lincoln was the coolest wise man ever on Sunday morning. We called him Head Wise Man since his counterparts were half his size and needed much direction. Bear and Ben joined in at the end as jingle-bell-singing-sheep. Total chaos, but totally cute.

Capped off this amazing weekend last night with a trip to the Boat Light Parade on San Diego Bay. The first sail boat was awesome! We were so excited! And then they cancelled the parade due to rain. (Seattle friends and family, you would have been ashamed at the amount of rain that cancelled this parade. SO pathetic)

Looking forward to a fun, low-key week before Christmas. Hope you've got some fun things planned.

Weekend Re-Cap

Had the privilege of helping with East County Young Life's dessert this weekend. "Something Sweet" theme, with desserts from Heaven Sent, candy in apothocary jars and other decor in bright yellow, pink and dark gray. Turned out very pretty and the program was excellent. Great job, AJ.

Linc went to his first San Diego State football game Saturday night. In the rain. But he didn't mind getting drenched to be with his dad and get his picture taken with the Aztec.

Love that the kids are out of school this week. We'll be taking it easy around the house today planning our Thanksgiving menu, finishing up our crafts for the Holiday Fest, and making cookie dough for these.

Weekend Re-Cap

Pretty low-key around here. We rented Toy Story 3 for Bear and Ben. They were totally mesmerized. Did you cry at the end? Bawled my eyes out. Weeded our overgrown flower beds and finally dug out the last of the tomatoes. The boys played football in the yard and "king of the hill" at the park.

My favorite part was craft night at Brooke's where I got to make this Anthropology-look-alike wreath and meet some new girls. Sitting around with fancy cheese and wine, talking and making felt flowers? Dreamy.

(Sure beats discussing fantasy football picks. Sorry honey).

Wall of Art Update

It was time to update the wall of art...potato skull stamping, watercolor stick pictures and mice silhouettes for the staircase. I love when we're all at the table working on projects together.

Happy boys = happy mom.
