Homemade Ice Cream

image via Smitten Kitchen
Just got the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment as a gift. We're all excited to  put it to work. Seems a little too easy though. I have fun memories of making ice cream with my grandpa. A very time-consuming process that included tons of rock salt, handle turning and waiting. He always added lots of coconut, maraschino cherries and bananas.

My crew of boys will be requesting bubble gum ice cream, but I'm excited to try Buttermilk, Lime Mango Sorbet and Banana Coconut. Delicious addition to our back-to-school celebration this weekend.

We actually have the hand crank homemade ice cream maker and I am convinced that the love it takes to make it, makes it! But Nick would love to be able to have the kitchen aid make it! Do you like it? How much does it make?
