Girl's Weekend

After five fabulous hours on the road to Phoenix, I rolled into town. Started out the weekend with lunch at LGO with my friend Jenny and her new baby Finley. If I had another baby, I'd want a sweet girl just like her.

Met up with the girls for our Wigwam weekend. Two days of staying up late talking, sharing great food and wine, shopping, spa treatments, crafting and hot tubbing.  Heavenly.

Girls, you're a gift to me and I enjoyed every minute with you.

Weekend in Seattle

A weekend away. Just me. On an airplane reading US magazine. Driving my rental car to the 80's and 90's station and no one complaining. Having enough time to put on eyeliner AND eyeshadow. Playing with my nieces and nephews without one of my kids vying for my attention.

But best of all, getting to enjoy myself while celebrating one of my long time friend's fabulous 40th. (yes, it's a theme this year!) Great conversation about our crazy high school and college "adventures". Talking about how we're going to lock our kids in their rooms when they reach the same age. Awesome old pictures with hair that was held in place by a whole can of Aqua Net. Delicious food, wine and friendships with history that can't be replaced.

Ageless

Birthdays are about celebrating the unique, special person, not focusing on a number, right? Especially this year.

We had the privilege of celebrating Andi's "birthday without a number" last night at Il Fornaio. Beautiful bay view. Incredible food...calamari, seafood pasta, butternut squash ravioli, tiramisu, and more.

But my favorite part of the night was hearing incredible stories from Andi's first (fill in the blank) years of life. Knowing Andi is at the top of my "best things about moving to San Diego" list. Cheers to you and your graceful entry into the next decade!

logged about six beautiful hours out here today with my newspaper, book, computer and latte...thanks to ikea, my handy screwdriver, and my denial that we are in a recession!

looking forward to many more great conversations (thanks jordan), wine, lattes, good books and blogging in this exact same spot.

Back to Robson Street

It's always sweet to pull back into your driveway after being away...but the reality of "real" life sets in after a few minutes of being home...laundry to get done, people need to eat, the house needs to be cleaned...I always feel a little down the first day back from vacation! But it feels good to think about sleeping in my own bed tonight, waking up to my own coffee, having my kids asleep in their beds, and getting back into the swing tomorrow.
We had a fantastic vacation...great memories together as a family...fun friends visited, dance moves were learned, quads rides given, lots of hikes, eating lots of yummy meals, lots of "go fish" tourneys won by Lincoln, date night in Flagstaff...
Wouldn't trade these moments for anything. Precious.

Friends & Baby Basket

As a mom you never feel like you get enough "friend" time, so when you do it's awesome! I had an evening with my friends Lisa, Megan & Mindy and we had lots of laughs over a glass of wine and appetizers at Bombero's, a fun wine bar in central Phoenix. My friend Lisa and her family just bought a really cool house right off Central Ave, and we got to check it out before they move in on monday. They bought it from the original owners who built it in the 60's, and they left some cool retro stuff behind! Who would have thought that this orange whale soap dish would be so fun to have in 2008? Lisa's going to display it in her house with pride...

I'm hosting a baby girl shower at the house tomorrow for our friends, the Amaro's. Little Hannah coming in August...I'm putting together Baby Shower Baskets that you can order for your next shower...includes: burp cloth, bib, changing pad, onesie, and silky blanket or diaper tote - value is $65 if bought individually, but you can get this, with free basket, wrap, and card for $60. Available in any fabrics I offer on the website. Happy Showers!
