Golden Hill, here we come

It's true, we've packed up the house once again. Moving a few miles away to Golden Hill. We've decided to call the house "the Giant Peach". I'll post pictures next week! If you live close by, feel free to drop by tomorrow to load a few boxes...I'm not kidding. Seriously, come by.

Oh, two.

Dear Ms. Monica,

Although I love this boy more than words can express, I also really love dropping him off at your pre-school. If you could see the two of us at Target, Starbucks or really any other store when the tantrum hits, you'd know why. Over seemingly little things, like the splitting of a cupcake, the 2 year old Jeckle and Hyde rears its ugly head. Flat on the floor, nose to the linoleum, sobbing gigantic tears and screaming about the injustice of the world.

I love that he can't even take the time to give me a hug as he runs to get to your playground. There are no tears on arrival or departure. You don't complain about his daily diaper blowouts. You dress up for work. And your staff has been there loving kids for 25 years.

Hats off to you Ms. Monica.

From the bottom of my heart,

Harrison's Mom

Jedi Mind Trick

On Linc's birthday we took a day trip to Disney. When he was chosen for the Star Wars show this was the face. Excited, a bit cocky.
Which immediately turned to this freaking out face....
When facing this face, fake Darth Mal. Ooooh.

(Darth Mal came right up to Ben...and smiled. So cute.)

(Anyone else have terrifying nightmares about Storm Troopers when they were a kid? Oh, the horror.)

My Peeps

Spent the weekend with these cute ladies at our YoungLife Camp in Virginia, Rockbridge. It snowed on my arrival and was a nippy but nice 34 degrees.

This is one amazing group, spending their lives loving teen moms, and this is just one quarter of our amazing YoungLives staff.

Highlights from the weekend...

1. Getting to know these girls in a "hot tub talking" kind of way
2. Learning more about myself, why God created me like he did, and how to look more deeply at who I am created to be
3. Hearing the life stories of five of these women, and seeing the miraculous ways their hearts have been molded by their experiences.
4. Three glorious hours in the car each way to camp. Alone with my 90's station and thoughts.

Until next time East Coast. You're simply lovely.

Kitchen Island Re-Do

This is one of my favorite pieces of furniture and it's been sitting on my porch since we moved to San Diego. Weather and lack of care had it looking pretty sad.

I borrowed my neighbors power sander last weekend, and had my way with it!
Picked out this fun color from the mis-match pile at Ace Hardware. Mythic Paint.

Lastly, I soaked the newly sanded butcher block with mineral oil.
Can't wait to use it again...welcome back island.

Tea Collection

The third boy gets his share of hand-me-downs. But occasionally the Bear gets something new. Usually it's things that are on sale, and then marked down from that sale price :) But on our way back to the car today Bear and I peeked into Style Child. My favorite clothing label for kids, Tea, had this adorable hoodie for $12. Sold. Check out their blog here.

Bear is a lady killer in turquoise.

Newport 2010

Our annual trip with these friends still proves to be one of my highlights of the year. There's something wonderful about time away with your husband and friends who know you at your best and worst. Ah Newport, why do you have to be just once a year?

Ben's Day on Design Mom

I've always wanted to write Ben's birth story down. When Gabrielle of Design Mom started posting birth stories I thought it was time to share. It was so hard to narrow down the experience of those six months to something that would fit in a blog post, but have a look and let me know what you think. Plus, it's on Design Mom, and she's my favorite.

Happy 2010!

We discussed the appropriate terminology for the new year last night with our neighbors, over cupcakes and carmel corn. (today I start a no-sugar fast, long overdue)

The smartest one in the bunch, Andi, says it's twenty-ten. I believe her, but I don't like it. It seems awkward. Forced. Not natural. Need I say more.

So I'm thinking of just calling it ten. Like I've known the new year for a long time. We're friends already. A cute nickname.

So here's to a happy ten! Hope you have a wonderful day planned that involves much lounging around and resolutions in this next year of life.
