Siren Change

Dear Starbucks,
As a daily customer since 1992, I'd appreciate if you'd run any logo changes by me before going public. However, since this is already out there, I'd like to say "I like it".

Sincerely,
Jen

Back in the Day

So, I'm about to speak to a select audience. Specifically, my fellow high schoolers from the late 80's, early 90's.

I picked up this Back in the Day hip hop CD today at Starbucks. Will Smith, Beastie Boys, De La Soul, Coolio, and many more. Even...wait for it....J.J.Fad. (shout out to Chrissy, the Pepa to my Salt)

Summer in San Diego reminds me of high school summers. Cruising in my Toyota B210, bumping my mix tapes. Destination...downtown Olympia for frozen yogurt (yeah, this yogurt craze is not so original) or Rhythm City (most awesome high school dance club ever).

Cruising these days is much the same. Ok, maybe a few small differences. I have three little people in the backseat bobbing their heads to "summertime" and "supersonic". My shorts are about 6 inches longer. The sun through the sun-roof shines on my blond (well, maybe a few grays) hair. And our destination is usually the zoo or playground. Starbucks, on a good day. Ok, I admit it, every day.

At least the yogurt runs are still the same. Long live the 80's.

WAM Pictures...Giveaway Winner

Random.org has wisely chosen the Starbucks Giveaway winner. Ashley Maddox of Wam Pictures. He definitely needs the coffee. (world traveler)

Ashley is an incredibly talented videographer/photographer based out of Tucson, AZ. Check out his work on the website and blog. You'll be amazed.

He's for hire, so get creative. Once you see what he can do, you want to make up an event for him to film. Congratulations Ashley! (share with Tanita)

Come back Monday for our next giveaway. I'm sure you'll win next time.

Mother's Day

This was a great mother's day, from the morning veggie scramble and Starbucks in bed, to my evening Iron Man date with John.

But the best part were the gifts from Lincoln.

The greatest poem in which he describes me as tall, having nice hair and as a runner. (i hate running, and my thighs thank me daily)

Followed by the creation of this Lego masterpiece. Yes, it's Starbucks, and no, that's not somehow wrong.

Notice the amazing detail...tables, pastry case, register and barista machine. It's not like he's been in there a few times or anything.
"Welcome to Starbucks. Venti-iced-quad-espresso-with two pumps white mocha?"
What 7-year-old knows how to make an espresso machine out of Legos? Amazing.

We're submitting these photos to Lego just in case they need "mom" themed lego set ideas. I'm sure you'll see this one on the Target shelves next Christmas.

Lincoln goes Scholastic

No, this is not posed, he's totally serious. We had a field trip to Starbucks yesterday with all three boys (it's Arizona, 112 degrees and I couldn't spend one more minute in the house) and I come back from getting our drinks to this adorable scene.

Here's me..."Hey buddy, what ya doing?"
Lincoln..."I'm just reading the paper Mom"  Duh.
He's five going on 20.
I'm going to cry so hard when I take him to kindergarten next month.
Happy 4th everyone!

Starbucks Rendezvous

Seriously, a straw is at least 30 minutes of good, clean fun. Benners had a blast with his green straw at Starbucks today while I worked on my mac (our house internet was down) and talked with Lee (cool grandpa who hangs out at Starbucks). Had an interesting conversation with Lee about the book "The Shack" and faith. I love meeting an older person who talks about their life. Makes my 37 years seem like squat.

We went to our church's night service tonight. Super casual, great music and good discussion. After the service we came out to an awesome sunset, thanks to the forest fire burning in south phoenix...
It's hot here. Like 111 degrees. Send refreshments.
