Spooky
Found these fun vinyl stick-ons at So Childish yesterday. They got me in the Halloween spirit so I pulled out all of my decorations and got to decorating. Lincoln was a bit miffed that the stick-on skeleton is smiling, but I'm working my way into the "scary" stuff slowly but surely.
I'm feeling some Halloween craftiness coming on...

Halloween T's
I've been busy creating fun things just in time for Halloween. Check them out in the shop! Isn't my t-shirt model the cutest? I had to bribe him with taffy, but it was worth it for the action shots.

Do-it-Yourself-Spiders
This is a craft for all ages. Make a bunch and hang them around the house to add to the homemade, more-cute-than-creepy, factor.
A few easy steps...
1. Glue small styrofoam ball (head) to large ball (body)
2. Use skewer to hold spider while you spray paint (go light or it will bubble up) or paint with acrylics.
3. Use chenille pipe cleaners for legs. Push into body and bend to shape.
4. Glue eyes and sequin nose.
5. Decorate with glue and glitter, sequins or silver tissue paper cut into small squares.
6. Use fishing line to hang your spiders!

Halloween, Martha Style
It's hard to tell if Martha loves Halloween or Christmas more. I think it's a draw.
The October issue of her magazine is always my favorite. How happy was I when I ran across Martha's Halloween collection at Joann's today. I picked up these bat cling-ons and stuck them to every window and mirror in our house. Cupcakes will taste even better with orange cream cheese frosting in these paper liners. I'm thinking about having a Halloween party this year and would love to order this trick or treat banner to decorate with.
I promise this is my last post about Halloween decor (unless, of course, I find something so cute that I couldn't live with myself if I didn't share it with you. High probability of that happening). I'm starting to look like a real live room parent over here.

Halloween Finds
I opened up my Halloween tubs this weekend to find that I went a little crazy with Pooh window cling-ons and blinking Snoopys last year. (not sure what happened?) I decided to take advantage of yesterday's babysitter time to take my first trip to the closest Home Goods (30 miles away!) Three hours later I emerged with a truck full of treats and resolve to control myself better next time. (how can a store antipate my every need?)
Anyways, the window cling-ons have been banished to the trash and although Lincoln would like more blood and skulls lying around, we've managed to add a little bit of spooky to the house.

Halloween on Etsy
I'm home on the couch this week nursing a monster head cold. You know the kind where it feels like you're wearing a pumpkin as a head? After some special behind-the-counter medicine from the pharmacist today, I've been feeling good enough to cruise Etsy. As soon as I'm feeling up to it (tomorrow?) I'm going to drag out the Halloween tubs from the attic. I love buying a few new decorations every year to add to the collection. Here are a few fun ideas I saw today...

Decorating Casa de Byard - Part 2 - Porch Makeover
New sitting area...
Table from Pat's in North Park, tray from Domestic Bliss
Mums & sign below from Target, Pumpkins from Mountain Valley Ranch
This week's project was creating a new sitting area on the porch.
We like to enjoy our AM coffee and PM wine outside...
John took down the big trellis that blocked our view.
A little paint, pillow-covers plants and pumpkins.
Come on over for a little porch time.

Pirate Politics
Since when does a kindergartener care about politics?
Lincoln wanted to know "which one is the elephant, Marack Obama or John Hurricane?" and "Mom, who are you going to vote for?"
He then proceeded to very diplomatically say that whoever didn't win could just be the president of Mexico instead.
Huh?
